KICKSTAND MANAGEMENT TEAM

Robb Shurr

Robb Shurr–robb@wearekickstand.com

Robb has spent his career building committed communities around the brands that he has championed. He is a conversation architect and communication expert whose process starts at the ground level—listening to customers and understanding the conversations that occur around brands. From there, he creates highly strategic and integrated campaigns that are focused and precise.

Prior to starting Kickstand, Robb’s career included director level positions at the Access Fund, Ojai International, Sole Survivor as well as account management positions for Motorola, Coke, and Milk at McCracken Brooks Communications in Minneapolis.

Robb has a Master of Arts in Communications Studies from the University of South Dakota with a focus on persuasive and environmental communication. He served on the Access Fund Board of Directors and recently received a service award from Leave No Trace for Kickstand’s work.

A Harvard trained ethnographer, Scott learned the art of the interview from some of the best sociologists in the world. He has more than a dozen years of research and marketing experience as well as an MBA from the Leeds School of Business at the University of Colorado in Boulder.

In 2000, Scott began developing his particular method of customer ethnography—small samples, in-depth interviews, videotaped feedback, targeted recruiting, powerful open-ended questions—all conducted within a strategic marketing context. This research method is a synthesis of Sociology and Marketing that allows for deep levels of customer understanding.
